Every holiday season the shimmering lights and festive spirit of the Intracoastal Christmas Regatta illuminate the waterways of Little River and North Myrtle Beach. This event serves as the perfect kick-off to the holidays but also has a rich history rooted in community, creativity and a shared love for giving back.
The Regatta began in 1984 when Susie Watson and a couple family members were inspired by a boat parade they had seen during a trip to Florida. Fishing tournament season has now come to an end and the weather was still nice, so they came up with a plan! The Intracoastal Christmas Regatta quickly grew to be too much for the three of them to handle so others volunteered and became this dedicated committee who oversees every detail of the regatta.
A proud partner of the Regatta is Yachts for Tots. This is a charity that helps make a difference in the lives of children in Horry County. They strive to meet the needs of children who might be falling through the cracks by hosting toy drives and fundraising activities. Yachts for Tots assist children all year round as needs arise. Annual contributions are also made to camp chemo, teen angels and/ or other local charities.
The Intracoastal Christmas Regatta is more than just a boat parade; it’s a celebration of the tight knit community of Northern Horry County. This year our Bridgewater Community came together for a special night out, sharing the joy and excitement of the Regatta. Residents gathered to enjoy the festive atmosphere, stunning light displays and togetherness that makes this event so special.
Whether you’re a boater eager to join the parade or a spectator soaking in all the holiday spirit, the Intracoastal Christmas Regatta promises an unforgettable evening of holiday magic.
